DCBA 2007 China Forum -- Globalization of China Auto Industry - When, How & It’s Impact

2006 was another phenomenal year for China auto industry by becoming second largest vehicle market with auto production and sales reaching 7.28 million units and 7.22 million units, an increase of 27% and 25% respectively. After 5 years explosive growth, the Chinese Auto OEMs are capturing more of world attention with their plans to sell overseas and the increasing global supply of China auto parts generates more pressure and future concerns to US auto suppliers.

What is the globalization strategy of Chinese auto OEMs and suppliers? What kind of impact it will have to US auto industry? What is the result and limitation of severe pursuance of cost reduction for OEMs and suppliers? As a countermeasure, can US auto OEMs and suppliers utilize China as low cost manufacturing base to compete by importing vehicles and parts from China? It is time to step in further beyond the cost reduction to find true solutions.

The Detroit Chinese Business Association (DCBA) will host the 2007 China Forum on April 17 of 2007 to address these critical issues.

US-China Auto Suppliers Networking

The US-China Auto Suppliers Networking event will take place in the afternoon of April 17, 2007, right after DCBA 2007 China Forum. It will provide an excellent opportunity for China and US auto suppliers to network and to explore win-win solutions.

2006 marked an extremely difficult year for US auto OEMs and suppliers, as well as Chinese auto suppliers. Aggressive cost cuts from OEMs, high oil price and material cost erode suppliers’ bottom line. The same issues plus low tech content and lack of quality control limit the profit margins of Chinese auto suppliers. It is imperative to bring together the advanced technology, product lines and marketing capabilities from the US companies with the lower manufacturing cost from the Chinese companies.

Responding to the challenges, DCBA has invited a large group of Chinese auto suppliers to Detroit and provide a face-to-face networking opportunity for US and Chinese auto suppliers. More than 20 auto parts companies, mostly from Shandong province and other regions of China will introduce their business as well as their US collaboration/investment plans. This event will feature with presentations from key Chinese suppliers and one-to-one business discussion. The US automotive OEMs and suppliers who have interest in doing business with Chinese auto suppliers should not miss this great event.
